Growing into 2019

Here comes 2019! 2019 is going to be a year filled with anticipation and hope. Hope of how we’ll continue to grow during the good and the bad times, and for all the adventures ahead. However, 2018 was a year of growth for me and my family. Each area of growth has led us to hope for the good each day. We grew spiritually. Being a part of BSF each year, studying Romans and listening to Alisa Childers podcast has led to incredible growth. The amount of direction and pruning has been overwhelming, but also welcoming. We also took time to really invest in what the kids are learning spiritually....

Rebuild or walk away?

The older you get the harder it is to maintain friendships. Life ebbs and flows, friends move away, and people move on to other circles. Moving this last year and additional health issues caused me to be in a funk. I wondered if this was my new reality or something else was happening. Gather can be defined as ‘bring together and take in from scattered places or sources.’ I also think of gather as getting people together for a movement, or a common interest. That’s how I categorize my friendships. Each person is from a different area of our life whether its from work, church, workout friends, hobbies or new neighbors. It’s the common connection with these people which can lead to gathering together. Several people in Christian circles...

Connection

Today I choose thankfulness. Today I choose gratitude. And today I choose connection. These are thoughts that came with me from a few weekends ago and keep permeating my mind. Mike and I spent an entire weekend in the mountains at a marriage retreat. There was no cell service, just us, other couples we knew, food and wine, and beautiful nature. The kids were at our best friends house enjoying time with their ‘cousins.’ And it was pure bliss. I got to eat chocolate peanut butter balls with abandon. You catch my drift… Connection was the word that kept coming back and is staying with me. I’ve...
