Nadia

Dogs are some of the best companions you can have in life. They are loyal, sweet and want to be by your side. Over the years our fur babies become our family and companions. Nadia has been my fun-loving, sweet Siberian Husky who lived a long healthy life.

Nadia

Nadia was my quirky hiking budding giving us lots of laughs. Saying goodbye is so hard because it closes a chapter in my life.

I got Nadia in September 2001 and had just returned from living in Texas desperately wanting someone to love me. A dog seemed like a great answer. My first marriage was rocky and I thought it would be fun to have a best friend. So I searched through ads looking for a Siberian Husky breeder and found someone who had a recent litter. We went to check out the puppies and fell in love with the runt who was chasing after balls. Boy, did she have a ton of energy! She howled all the way home that evening and I knew then she would be a handful.

What’s amazing is the resiliency of animals. Nadia went through living in apartments, going through divorce, hanging out at doggie day care and not having a yard till later in life. I will never forget how much she missed me when I went to Europe for 3 weeks. She thought I had abandoned her! But her spirit and playfulness never stopped her from living life. There wasn’t a bunny or squirrel she wouldn’t chase and she always had to be the first in line when hiking.

Her resiliency

One of the things I’m most grateful for is how she reminded me to keep going. No matter what came our way, we needed to keep on keeping on. She was a tough cookie who loved everyone and peanut butter while showing me on numerous occasions how resilient she was.

This very sweet girl had a tough transition to being second place. Never in my wildest dreams did I think Harrison would take over. Nadia definitely felt the brunt of less attention with less walks and treats. Her arthritis had gotten so bad we knew it was time to do something about it. This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made.

After 14 years of being together, tomorrow it comes to a close. The end of a very precious era. If you know the Nadster, feel free to leave a comment. We would love to know how she touched your life.
