So I’ve been in love with this song Breathe before it hit the airwaves in 2015. This song holds so much meaning in my life with two little ones. Many families have navigated two kids 15 months apart, but this was not what I envisioned in my head as a family. When we were going through infertility, we thought for sure our kids would be at least two years apart given the hurdles to get them here. Surprise when Madelyn showed up, but that’s a blog post for another time.
What struck me about this song, outside of the fact that Jonny is a wonderful song writer, is the tempo and crescendo differences showcasing his lyrics. I love the point of Jonny’s song and I’m convicted that I make myself just as busy as the next person. One of my biggest pet peeves is hearing people say “I’m crazy busy” when asked how they are doing. Well, what makes you crazy busy? Your choices. One thing I am learning the older I get is the choices we make with our time are what we idolize in life. Do you love People magazine and what the celebrities are up to? Guess what I do to. Then you are going to read that magazine and find out what celebrities are up to on a regular basis. My point is that you can either make yourself busy or you can sit and choose what’s best. My favorite line in Johnny’s Breathe song is ‘Lay down what’s good and find what’s best’. What’s best for you and your life?
Still contemplating what’s best for our life as I’ve become a mom for the second time, have started speaking at DV meetings and decided to become a fitness instructor for Stroller Strides. Are all these things important or do they take away from what’s truly best? Am I filling my life with chaos? So when chaos calls, I need to remember to breathe.
