You’re exactly where you need to be

It’s summer! I love (insert heart emoji many times) summer in Evergreen. It’s my favorite season up in the foothills because there is no snow and its warm. If it could be like this all year, I’d be in heaven. I would prefer to live at the beach, but my husband won’t let me buy a beach house until I’m older (like 60). That’s another story for another time. Summer is always a carefree time for us. We have a lot more freedom to go, explore and have adventures. However, in addition to all the fun we have planned, I took on some personal development goals. July...

Self-righteousness keeps us from compassion

This past August it became very clear with the launch of my book that I would be moving in a different direction of healing. During the process of writing my book, I was able to remove the emotion and as a consequence didn’t shed a tear. Several people have asked, ‘Was it carthartic writing your book?’ And my answer has been yes and no. Personally, I thought I didn’t cry because I was healed from all the hurt the book represented. Not so much… Usually my crying happens at church, or at BSF (which they’re used to now). But in August when I heard a sermon on...

Gather

After going through a season of rejection and then realizing my need for connection, gather was the next word in the progression of healing. Gather can be defined as ‘bring together and take in from scattered places or sources.’ I also think of gather as getting people together for a movement, or a common interest. That’s how I categorize my friendships. Each person is from a different area of our life whether its from work, church, workout friends, hobbies or new neighbors. It’s the common connection with these people which can lead to gathering together. Several...

Potholes

This past year has been filled with so many amazing things and also some setbacks. It’s been a trying year when it comes to my health. Last year I had a liver resection and was miraculously better after 4 weeks and back to working out at 6 weeks. The fact that is wasn’t cancer was an even bigger praise! But this year, I’ve had stupid stuff happen to my health. Dropped a 30 pound weight on my foot in March and had a bone bruise for 3 weeks. Then in June my calf muscle tore. Slowly, but surely I’ve been recouping from this last injury as I train for a 1/2 marathon....

Chasing Failure

Today at Red Rocks Church, Ryan Leak, the author and producer of Chasing Failure, came to speak. He’s a gifted speaker with the ability to draw you into his amazing story. His question to the audience was ‘What would you do if you knew you could not fail?’ Become today who you are tomorrow. What I loved about his message was the positive spin on trying even if it doesn’t result in the outcome you desire. Several people have said to me, ‘You wrote a book. You’re an author.’ I personally don’t consider myself an author. I like the term writer...

Awakening

2017 has already started out with interesting twists and turns. There have been some wake-up calls which have left me baffled and wondering what’s next. I keep trying to make changes happen in my own time and in my own way. Changes that aren’t easy, but could potentially yield long term gain for myself and family. As I’ve started navigating this there is still a general theme of wait. Wait and see what I do… Awakening is the theme being preached at my church. It’s a very fitting message for the beginning of the year as people start New Years resolutions and goal...
