Happy New Year! Here’s to 2015

Happy New Year! Can you believe 2015 is almost here? I certainly can’t. There is so much to celebrate from 2014 and look forward to in 2015. At my old church in Florida we used to pick a word for the year. I’ve been pondering what my word for 2015 will be and celebration is the winner. I want my life to celebrate, or praise, what God is doing. What does this mean for 2015? Excitement for the following things… Finishing my book. It still needs cover art, more original content in 3 chapters, but 10 chapters are done. Harrison changed the whole pace of this project. Celebrate...

Hallmark Christmas movies… Our love story

Posted by on Dec 21, 2014 in Book, Marriage | 0 comments

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Hallmark Christmas movies. Call me cheesy, but I love things that are silly romantic. There are so many themes that warm my heart… family bonding, falling in love in three days or small town/local business. It’s so much fun to think about the wonderful holiday traditions you can start as a married couple or family. Mike, my husband, came into my life in 2008. Let’s sure hope so! 🙂 How does a person making decisions know what is the will of God?  The will of  God is not meant to be a secret we must uncover. God wants us to understand His will far more than we...

Going through trials (domestic violence,  waiting for the right husband and infertility) ultimately gave me a new perspective on joy. We are called to be joyful regardless of our circumstances, which baffled me in the midst of trials. Little did I know that God would use my circumstances to take me through a four year journey of discovering joy and what it meant to have a spirit of joy. Joy is a source or cause of delight; something or someone that gives joy to someone; success in doing, finding or getting something. Two of these definitions play into having a spirit of joy: a source or...

Meet Anne and Sophie

Posted by on Dec 5, 2014 in Domestic Violence | 0 comments

Light snow fell over the city as the Yellow Cab came to a stop at Safehouse Denver’s Emergency Shelter. A young woman and small girl stepped onto the sidewalk and into the welcoming arms of a Domestic Violence Advocate and the promise of safety inside. Anne had left her violent husband and was deeply concerned for her daughters safety. Anne and Sophie were two of the 30 residents at Safehouse over the 2013 holiday season. Anne is now working full-time and Sophie is a loving, well-adjusted kindgarten. Their story is very similar to many other women and children during the holiday...
